Junior Accountant - Accounts Payable Emphasis (entry-level for a growing multi-state retail company in Ocean Springs, MS)

The primary responsibilities for the Jr. Staff Accountant (A/P Specialist) include:

• Daily processing of check requests and vendor invoices for a large volume of company accounts. This includes receiving, processing, and verifying the payment of invoices within a specific Accounting software system.
• Regular, professional verbal and written communication with vendors and company employees
• Perform regular data entry associated with Accounts Payable 
• Review and reconcile any invoice discrepancies
• Conduct monthly reporting; utilize specific software programs and new technology
• Assist with the annual audit as requested; collaborate with other Accounting-related functions to help the business 
• Contribute to a team environment 

Qualifications that best suit the position include:

• High school diploma or GED required; an associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field of study preferred
• 3-5 years Accounts Payables experience preferred
• Proficient in MS Office particularly MS Excel; able to learn and retain new software programs as directed by the needs of the business; enjoy learning new technology
• Excellent analytical skills; ability to resolve complex problems
• Solid organizational skills; attention to detail; self-starter
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Positive attitude; ability to work well in a team environment
• Ability to accept new layers of responsibility as the mastery of our A/P processes happen; accept feedback and coaching well; apply continuous improvement approaches to the department and our overall business
